Substance Use Services
Suboxone Treatment
Prescription medication may be used with counseling and psychosocial support to suppress withdrawal symptoms, decrease cravings, and help manage opioid dependence. SUBOXONE Film is one form of medication-assisted treatment and is provided in collaboration with a doctor qualified to treat opioid dependence.
Substance Use Counseling
Individual or group outpatient therapy is provided by an LCAS or LCAS-A to support individuals on their journey toward recovery, health, and wellness.
Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program
SAIOP is an intensive outpatient program offering comprehensive support to people in early recovery for approximately 12–16 weeks. Clients receive nine hours of group treatment each week, along with individual counseling, case management, and couples or family counseling as needed.
GAIN Assessments
The Global Appraisal of Individual Needs originated in 1993 through collaboration among clinicians, researchers, and policymakers. It was created as a comprehensive, standardized biopsychosocial assessment tool.
Dr. Michael Dennis, Senior Research Psychologist and Director of the GAIN Coordinating Center, led the development of the GAIN Initial. The project sought to bridge clinical research and the growing movement toward evidence-based practice.
The Seven Challenges
Dr. Schwebel began developing The Seven Challenges in 1991 while counseling adolescents in residential treatment and intensive outpatient settings.
The program is grounded in the view that adolescent substance use counseling should be developmentally appropriate, informed by psychological research and science, and holistic. It addresses substance use alongside co-occurring concerns and life-skills deficits.
